Awana International Executive Director visits Kenya

I love to see what God is doing around the world and to visit our field staff and experience their cultures and ministries! In June I traveled to Kenya for the first time to attend the one year Celebration of our Leadership Training Program.

Dozens of Awana leaders were there to give thanks to God for the work He has accomplished over the past 12 months. The ministry in Kenya has almost doubled in one year! Today, over 300 clubs share the good news of the gospel with the boys and girls of this nation. We spent much time singing and praising the Lord for His goodness. The leaders received messages of encouragement
and God's anointing for their future ministry.

My last day was spent in Kibera, the largest slum in Kenya. Nearly 600,000 children call this slum their home. These kids live in the worst conditions imaginable yet they have beautiful smiles that radiate joy!

The Lord has given many pastors and other ministries a burden to care for the kids in this slum. I had the privilege of meeting seven pastors (out of over 70) who minister in Kibera and are working to make a difference in the lives of these boys and girls!

The ministry in the slum of Kibera reminds me that nothing is impossible with God. He is always at work to further His Kingdom and He uses ordinary people like you and me to accomplish His plans. Isn’t it a privilege that He chose each one of us to help?

If you would like to reach boys and girls in Kenya or other countries in Africa, please visit our website at www.awanainternational.org/africa to make a donation.

Thank you for helping us impart hope to children around the world.

Blessed be the Name of the Lord,

Brian Rhodes
