Soccer camp in Ecuador brings kids to Christ

"Recently, a work team from Renton Highlands Church in Renton, WA, visited us and helped with another High Power Soccer experience. Nine people came to help churches in Portoviejo and Manta (on the coast of Ecuador) carry out this outreach ministry. They were able to bring with them over 300 “Mission Balls” with scripture and the plan of salvation written on each one.

178 children participated between two churches. Each morning the team headed early to Portoviejo to get ready for 137 children who participated in this event. The weather was hot (38 C) and humid with occasional rain. The church is reaching out into a neighboring community full of “at risk children” to take the gospel there. Each day 50 children piled into the back of a truck and about 20 more into a Landrover to play soccer and hear God’s word for them. Each child took their own Mission Ball home.

At the end of the week, 57 of the 137 said they had made first time professions of faith. THAT IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT."
