Althea gives back
Young clubber in the Philippines leads children to Jesus
When Althea was just 10 years old, she asked her Awana leader for an extra handbook so she could lead an Awana club in her home. She wanted to reach kids in her own neighborhood. And, for the last four years, Althea has never wavered in her commitment.
“I pick them up at their houses, and then we pray, sing songs and have story time,” Althea said. “I want to reach other children who don’t know God.”
Her club leader marvels at the way God is using Althea to influence those around her.
“When I visited, 15 children were gathering around her, reciting Bible verses, asking questions and hanging on every word she said,” the leader shared. “She has such a heart for teaching kids.”
Althea quotes Jeremiah 29:11 as her favorite verse: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (NIV).
“That’s what I want to
teach children,” Althea says. “I want them to learn to be strong, to not go
astray, to walk the right path. God promised that we have a future in Him.”
