Philippines - "I used to see children as a bother..."
Awana leader now sees children as a blessing!
I cannot express my thanks and gratitude to you through this letter alone. Praise God for sending you to us! And may our desire to reach all children be a reality for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let me share to you what Awana has changed and helped me realize and re-align my focus in ministry.
I am 28 years old. Not yet married but already planning to start my own family in four year’s time I guess. I studied mechanical engineering in college and right now taking up GCUM (General Certificate in Urban Ministries) in a Bible school. We are six in the family. My mom died when I was 15 years old. My dad remarried thus adding another six to us. And four of them are already attending Awana!
I wasn’t really a fan of children’s ministry because I used to see children as a bother more than a blessing. But when I heard Patrick shared the importance of children’s ministry, tears just fell from my eyes! For the first time in my life I saw myself wanting to be involved with children. God is indeed widening my horizon.
The Seed Planter’s training has helped me to be ready in the ministry that I will be in. It has encouraged and taught me where exactly in our church’s children’s ministry I should be in. I am excited to do my part! I know and believe that this ministry through Awana would fulfill the great commission that was commanded by our Lord Jesus.
Our church has and is involved with outreaches in different areas in Legazpi and Daraga. The children are more in numbers compared to adults. That makes Awana the most applicable system to reach out to the community.
I pray that Awana would be able to train more leaders who would be used for the advancement of God’s kingdom. And also for more sponsors like you who is willing to invest in this God-given ministry. I pray for your health and more blessings as you press on in blessing others.
Please pray for me as well that the flame in me will not be quenched and let me be broken so that I may be able to serve more for our Lord Jesus Christ.
Finally, please also pray for my family and our source of income so that I may be able to go full time in serving. For the good health of my father who is the one running our garage. For my brothers and sisters to be leaders like me.
May God bless you and keep you and may others follow your example.
