We have a new Awana Coordinator in Papua New Guinea! We are very excited about the commitment Gideon and his wife, Julie, have to see Awana in churches and schools all across Papua New Guinea’s mainland and its islands. A big job, but we believe that, with God’s direction, they and the team they will be putting together can make it happen. In June and July we will be giving Gideon additional training, along with his team, to further prepare them for their Awana ministry there.

The Awana Club Gideon started in his church has a very effective outreach to the children in settlements around town (areas where families from the bush move to town and live). Community clubbers, whether members or not, are made to feel
part of the church family through the love and care the whole church body extends to the 100 and more children brought into club each week. The clubbers and church members all helped to build the Awana office. They are taking an active part in helping Gideon and Julie carry out their vision to reach children all around PNG.

February is the month when schools begin their new year of school and it’s also when churches start their new year of club.  These pictures (see above) were sent to us recently from a club higher up in the mountains run by the Christian Leadership Training College. The clubbers (80+) are made up of the students’ children and local village children. This Bible College is where Gideon became an Awana leader and he and Julie just recently graduated from.
