Higher Power Results from Awana/Soccer Program
A week ago I was able to be in Venezuela to celebrate 25 years of
Awana in that challenging country. I was able to
participate in one of their conferences in Maracaibo where over 600 Awana
leaders celebrated what God is doing in that city. There are now 285
clubs and five missionaries in that country.
Tonight a team from Renton
Church in Renton,
Washington arrives to do another round of High Power
Soccer in Portoviejo Ecuador. Two churches have joined
efforts again this year. Like last year we are hoping for 200 children. We had this
conference and one group of 71 children from one community came and more than
50 of them made professions of faith. Today in that community alone over 90 children
meet weekly in an Awana club. God is touching this area.
around we are reaching into two other "children at risk" communities.
Fifty will be children who live in the garbage dump. Others from another
area. The cost per child is $6.50 and we have scholarships to cover the
materials for those children.
Pray for us....
- that we reach more
children with the Gospel
- for good weather
- for safety and health
for the team as well as the children and local church leaders
- that there be enough
scholarships to pay for each child to participate (some can pay their own
way but most cannot)
- that God reach into the
lives of these people and that we see transformation
- for the two churches,
their leaders, and the team as they work together and over come language
barriers to reach children for HIM.
