David and Liz Roach
Newbies, young-uns, kids, whatever you want to call us, we’re Awana Missionary deputees in North Carolina.
I (David) grew up in New Hampshire, and was a Sparky when my church there started Awana. I progressed all the way through the Awana program, earning my Citation award in 2003. I’ve fallen in love with the ministry and have seen Awana change my life and the lives of friends and family. Today, I live with Liz, my lovely wife of 3 years in Winston Salem.
Liz and I met at our first college class at Union University in Jackson, Tenn. Liz was born in West Columbia, S.C. and has also lived in Virginia, Alabama and Tennessee. She is a first grade teacher.
Together, we love the Lord and Awana and look forward to reaching more and more boys and girls with the gospel of Christ. God called us to become Awana Missionaries full time in the spring of 2009, and it’s truly a blessing to see God at work before we ever really knew what His plans were. And we know He’s still working in our lives.
Are you a part of God’s plan to help us?
As deputies, we are working almost exclusively on support raising. During this time, we are in constant prayer that God would show us the people He’s chosen to support us. And as hard as I know it will be at times, we’re trying.
God has led us this far and we know there are people He has planned for us to meet. Maybe that person is you! Whether it’s through prayer or finances, we do need you. These 2.2 million children under 18 in North Carolina are waiting for someone to explain the gospel to them. And Awana is a proven successful way to reach children of all ages.
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6
We know God has incredible plans, plans we know nothing about. And take it from a person who has personally experienced Awana—it works.
